Lens Review: Sony FE 35mm f/1.8

I recently purchased the Sony full-frame 35mm f/1.8 lens with the plan for it to be my main lens that I use day-to-day. I love the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 but it is a large and heavy lens. I wanted something compact and light, when Sony announced the 35mm I knew I wanted it.

It’s not a cheap lens though, I paid £581 GBP for the lens. Compared to other similar lenses for Canon, Nikon and other cameras, it’s quite expensive.

The lens is perfect for if you’re looking for a lightweight setup that you want to carry with you when going for walks or travelling, but still want a low aperture.

There are smaller lenses out there, specifically the 28mm f/2.8 but I much prefer the 35mm focal length and of course the f/1.8 aperture. It provides some fantastic shallow depth of field which I love. I use my camera in Aperture Priority mode pretty much 99% of the time just so I can have that nice bokeh.
