The biggest difference about these new accessories is that they will no longer be powered by AA batteries and instead opt for lithium-ion batteries that can be charged from a lightning cable and promise a month or more on a full charge.

The change of batteries means a change of design, the keyboard and trackpad lose their tubular design and are now made up of a more solid, angled design. The trackpad also features a 29 per cent larger surface and brings Force Touch to the desktop for the first time.

Apple says the new Magic Mouse 2 is lighter, sturdier and features an optimised foot design for "a smoother glide." The only problem is the obvious design flaw in the way the Magic Mouse now charges, the port is at the bottom of the mouse which doesn't exactly look and feel natural - cue a Magic Mouse 2 dock.

The new Magic Keyboard will cost £79, the Magic Trackpad 2 will cost £109, and the Magic Mouse 2 £65.
