A competition to design Norway's new passport was won by Oslo-based design company Neue. They created a gorgeous, bold looking document that not only looks perfect, but "captures the nations identity".
If the winning passport represents Norway's identity, then it certainly confirms its sleek, minimalist status that it's known for. The passport depicts Norway's beautiful, rural landscapes with fine lines and cleverly chosen colours.
The front of the passport sports a slightly more minimal version of Norway's national crest stamped into bolder colours; red, white and turquoise, standing for standard, immigrant or diplomat respectively.
Personally, my favourite part of the passport is when it's shone under a UV light, the landscapes on the passport transform to show the Northern Lights in the nights sky. A perfect way to add detail to an otherwise minimal design.
The competition however was not just for a passport, to win - the hopefuls had to design a photo i.d as well, Neue certainly didn't disappoint again as they produced something equally as well-designed as their passport.
The passports and photo i.d's are due to arrive in Norway in 2017. As well as these documents, Norway have taken an even bigger step in their quest for minimal design with the inclusion of re-designed bank notes and they are superb-looking, to find out more about them click here.
