There's no denying that Snapchat is an incredibly successful app. Millions of people from all around the world fell in love with the idea of self-destructing messages that they can view only for a few seconds before they sink into oblivion. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Facebook has just launched a Snapchat competitor named Slingshot.
Available on both Android and iOS, Slingshot works in the same way as Snapchat. It allows you to send and receive photos and videos that are automatically destroyed upon viewing. There's one big difference, though. Slingshot won't let you view a message unless you share something with the person that has shared something with you.
Functionality aside, if you're not a huge fan of Snapchat's colorful interface, you will adore Slingshot. It was designed Facebook’s Creative Labs team, which is the same group of people that have previously released the awesome Paper app. The interface appears to be very polished and intuitive, but only time will tell if it is enough to convince users to trust Facebook and abandon Snapchat's ghost-shaped ship.
