With the computer business gone, Sony is ready to take on the post-PC era. At Mobile World Congress, world's largest mobile technology convention held in Barcelona, Spain, the company has announced the Xperia Tablet Z2 - a gorgeous 10.1-inch tablet built to challenge the competition in terms of both power and design.

Just like the new Xperia Z2 smartphone, the Xperia Tablet Z2 features Sony's iconic OmniBalance design language, where precise craftsmanship meets premium materials and the elegance of fashionable minimalism. The slate consists of two glass panels that are connected with an uniform aluminium frame and feels and looks strong. Durable materials don't stop it from being extremely light, too. The Xperia Tablet Z2 measures only 6.4mm in thickness and weights 426 grams, which makes it the most compact tablet in the world.

Inside its waterproof body, there's a 10.1-inch 1080p TRILUMINOS display with Live Colour LED technology, a quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony's own interface, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, a mighty 8.1MP Exmor RS rear shooter and a 2.2MP Exmor R front camera, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optional 4G/LTE connectivity, powerful front-facing stereo speakers with digital noise cancelling technology, and a 6000mAh battery that should provide enough juice for 13 hours of continuous video playback.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 will launch in either black, or white in March. The 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi versions are £399 and £449 respectively, whilst for the device with 4G/LTE support and 16GB of on-board memory you'll have to pay as much as £499.
