iOS has had 'Find Your iPhone' for years now, it enables you to find your iDevice if it were ever to be lost. It's actually pretty powerful and there are many stories of where the feature has helped a lot.
Google is now at last bringing the feature over to Android, even if it is a few years late. There have been Android apps available on the Play Store that help you find your Android device if you were to lose it, but Google was yet to introduce it officially themselves.
Coming in the next few weeks will be Android Device Manager. This will help you locate and ring your misplaced device. It'll let you ring the device at maximum volume even if the device is in silent mode. With Google Maps, it will enable you to locate your device in real time. You can of course wipe the device remotely too so your personal info stays safe.
