Samsung has just announced an Android powered camera, the Samsung Galaxy Camera. This is meant to be a proper digital camera, no Android device with a huge camera stuck on to it.
It has a huge 4.8-inch screen which takes up the whole back of the camera. It has a resolution of 1280x720 so viewing pictures you've taken will obviously look fantastic. Not many Micro Four Thirds camera's even have a screen that good. It has a 23mm wide angle lens and a 16-megapixel sensor which has an optical zoom of up to 21x. It has 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, WiFi and 3G. For the 3G to work you will need a Micro SIM card. Weirdly though, there is no SD card slot, just a MicroSD card slot. Surely with the point of this being a digital camera it needs an SD card slot, right?
Of course with this running on Android, you'll be able to use all the photography apps available on the Play Store. You essentially have an arsenal of photo editing apps. Also with the ability to have 3G you'll be able to upload your pictures right away.
It'll be on sale in the fourth quarter of this year. No word on pricing yet.
