The guys over at Nico van der Meulen Architects made this 4000 sq. m behemoth of a house. An indoor pool area complete with a bar and seating area is accessible from the living room and garden. There is also an outdoor pool with deck chairs, so you can swim, read or just sunbathe. In front of the house a massive horseshoe shaped aquarium holds real fishes. Right next to the pool, there is a wooden table with six chairs underneath a skylight, which means it is probably for lunch or a small meal. A metal spiral staircase winds around a pole all the way to the topmost floor. Hundreds of canopy lights illuminate the house in a yellow glow without protruding out of the ceiling which makes the rooms seem very big. A second main staircase leads from the kitchen and dining room to the upstairs. At night the second main staircase has a bluish glow due to lights underneath each step. As with most modern houses these days, the bedroom includes a platform bed with a side table, a few chairs and a personal balcony. The stone in the dining room and living areas came from buildings hundreds of years old that were demolished to make space for newer buildings. This two-story beauty sits in Johannesburg, South Africa.
