15 Beautifully Designed Logos With Hand Drawn Type

Great logo design is always, without fail, challenging. And some of the best logos you see, even the ones that look minimalist and simple, need to have a lot of thought, care and attention put into them to make them look as good as they do.

What makes it so challenging is that a great logo design usually has both practical and conceptual constraints. Practically, the logo needs to be clear, easy to recognise, and easy to read even if it’s shrunk down to a small size. Traditionally they also needed to remain visually pleasing and recognisable if they were printed in black and white too, although this is less of a concern for many businesses – particularly if they’re Internet based. Conceptually, though, logos often need to fit in with the style and personality of the company that they represent – and this is one of the hardest things to get right.

Using a custom typeface, or hand-drawing the type, is one of helping the logo stand out from the crowd and, at the same time, help to show off the company’s own personality. Elegant swoops and calligraphy can help to portray a classy and stylish brand, while hand-drawn, bold type can show off a playful and fun brand – and there’s a huge range of different personalities and styles that can be shown off in-between.

We’ve brought together a collection of beautifully designed logos that all use hand-drawn type to help show off a bit more insight into the personality of each company, product, person or website. We hope you find them a good source of inspiration for your next design project.
