Google Drive was just inevitable, with the recent explosion of cloud storage systems and Apple coming up with their own version, Google have to match the competition.
According to TNW, Google Drive could be with us as soon as tomorrow (Tuesday 17th April) next tuesday (Tuesday 24th April)
They also detail how everyone gets 5GB for free and you can buy more, just like other services. Apparently it'll operate using desktop folders, just like Dropbox. Dropbox currently only offers 2GB for free when you sign up, so Google have already got the upper hand. However if you refer new users to Dropbox you gain extra space, 500MB per referral to be exact.
That's all for now. But I'm sure Google has its own tricks up its sleeve. With Google owning Android I'm sure they will provide some sort of Android phone backup service, just like Apple do. With the ability to automatically backup photos, apps, settings and more. Google can easily knit it in tightly with Android, making users sign up as soon as they boot up a new Android phone or sign up for a new Google account.
We got the dates wrong! It's coming next Tuesday - 24th April.
