Would you like to win yourself a $10,000 iTunes gift card? Well get downloading some apps!
Apple are at it again, offering a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the person who downloads the 25 billionth app. To think, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded, that's a quarter of a trillion. Now you don't see that trillion number thrown around very often, so to see Apple or Google achieve that will be an amazing feat in itself.
The last time they did this sort of offer, a British woman won the gift card. She got a call from Apple, telling her she had won the big prize. Instantly though she said no "thank you" and put the phone down, thinking it was a scam (in true British fashion). To be honest, I wouldn't blame her. If someone called you up telling you had won $10,000 you won't believe it at first - if it was just $100, it would be a lot more believable.
Google hit their 10 billionth app download on the Android market at the end of last year, but they instead offered everyone who had an Android phone some of the major apps for a bargain of 10p. So everyone benefited from the big achievement, not just one person.
