Dark Mode within tech has always been super popular, even more so since Apple brought it to iOS13 and Android to Android 10. The popularity stems from its aesthetic features, but it turns out there are also some technical advantages as well. A new test from PhoneBuff shows just how much better Dark Mode is for your device’s battery compared to using the standard Light Mode.
Using an iPhone XS as the test device, PhoneBuff employed robotic arms to perform various everyday tasks within iOS to test the difference Dark Mode can have on battery life.
The findings were actually quite impressive, resulting in Dark Mode draining the battery at a much slower pace. By the time the iPhone with Light Mode had completely drained, the XS with Dark Mode still had around 30% battery life left.
