These Long Exposures Photographs Of Rotating Helicopter Blades Are Unreal

In 1949, American photographer Andreas Feininger captured these incredible long exposure images of U.S. Navy helicopters as they took off into the air in Anacostia, Maryland. 

These innovative images were part of Feininger's work as a photographer for LIFE magazine. Just like the images we posted yesterday of the Formula One being photographed on a 104-year-old camera, there is a certain character to the photos when they are taken with a vintage camera, and this is just as true in Andreas' work.
