As you may have already heard, Elon Musk announced Tesla’s newest Roadster at yesterday’s unveiling event, and it’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Boasting some ridiculous numbers, the Tesla Roadster is set to be the world’s fastest production car – he described it as a “smackdown” to the fossil fuel-addicted auto industry.
The base model of the Roadster will do 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds and 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds. Musk said he wouldn’t confirm the top speed, but hinted that it was “above 250 mph.”
The Roadster also boasts a 200kWh battery pack and a 620-mile range per charge, or over 1,000 kilometers, which when you add in the speed figures that we mentioned earlier, they are some absurd numbers.
Check out a video below of the Tesla Roadster’s take-off numbers being tested, and head further down to see some photos of the new beast.
