If you've been following our Instagram 'MinimalSetups' then you'll know the attraction of having a nice clean workspace. We've put together a small guide on how easy it can be to put together a clean, minimalistic workspace, check it out below and if you've got anything to add, head to the comments.
With desks, keeping it simple is key, keep away from those over-extravagant, bulky corner units. Depending on what colour you want to go for you've got different options, not everyone is a fan, but Ikea really is the place to go. Whether you want something basic or a little more intricate, Ikea has it all, in all the colours. You may also find a few gems if you search their dining section for tables to use as desks.
It's boring to keep being told, but back-support and ergonomics are key when searching for a desk chair, and the good ones aren't as expensive as they used to be. BestOffice even does one for a very fair price, alternatively, if comfort isn't top of your priorities, this Eames-style chair is perfect.
No desk is complete without a lamp, if not for form more than function. It really depends on what look you're going for more than anything, this minimalist solid wood table lamp would be perfect in a dark workspace, whereas something simple like this Simple Designs mini basic table lamp would be great for a lighter setup.
When it comes to what device you're putting on your desk it's just personal preference. At the UltraLinx office we've always used Macs and MacBooks and can barely fault them. It's always worth checking out the refurbished section on Apple's website to see if they've got any good deals. You can't go wrong with the newest MacBook Pro's, just get ready to dongle up.
If you're a designer or a creative in general, then the clarity of the monitor you're working on is absolutely key. A monitor we've always recommended is the Dell Ultra HD 4K Monitor.
It's up to you whether you want a dock and what you're comfortable with, you've also got to choose between and stand or a dock, if you want one at all. Some of the best we've found are the UPPERCASE KRADL Aluminum Vertical Stand and the Rain Design mStand Laptop Stand.
Keyboard & Mouse
You really can't go wrong with the standard Apple Magic Mouse and Keyboard, but if you're going for a darker theme, or you just want to mix it up a bit, the new Logitech Craft Mouse and Keyboard will be perfect.
If you're in the market for a desk mat, then you can't look any further than our very own. Our ULX leather desk mats come in both black and brown and will compliment any clean workspace.
We've been using the Bose Companion 5 speakers in the office for a while now, the mix of design and sound quality is pretty unmatched. If you're looking for something a bit cheaper these Edifier R1280DB Speakers have got everything you need.
For late nights, or when you just don't want to make any noise you've got to have a reliable pair of headphones, we can't recommend the AIAIAI TMA-2 headphones. Design, build quality, sound quality, they have it all.
What better way to complete a setup than to add some subtle decoration. We've got a pretty nice selection over on Linx Supply, check them out here.
