Australia-based artist James Tapscott was commissioned to make a piece for the Japan Alps Art Festival, in response to this, he built an archway that looks like it should be a portal to another universe. Called the "Arc Zero-Nimbus", it's composed of a ring of mist and light located at the bridge entrance to the Kanonji Buddhist Temple.
The arch serves as a transition from forest to temple, and is meant to show visitors the historic and spiritual area they are about to enter. If you like this and want to see more of James' work then check out his website.
