At first glance, these cool Star Wars artworks by Sebastien Del Grosso look like they've been done in Photoshop or something similar, but there's actually a lot more that goes on behind the scenes to get the finished products. Sebastien actually photographs action figures and cuts them to use them in his artworks.
He poses the action figure in front of a bright screen as backlighting to capture just the silhouette in a photo using his DSLR.
Sebastien then places the figure in different positions to get every angle he needs for his final piece.
Then with a bit of Photoshop magic, he's left with this result titled “Geonosis”.
The process he uses can be seen pretty well in the image below.
