Google Chromebit

Asus-made stick computer for less than $100

Google has announced Chromebit - a new device running its Chrome OS cloud-based operating system.

Manufactured by Asus and promising to cost less than $100, the Chromebit is a computer on a stick that you can connect to your TV or HDMI-equipped monitor and enjoy full Chrome OS experience.

The Chromebit is almost the same size as a candy bar, which justifies why it comes with mid-tier specs. Hidden inside the device's tiny body, there's a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Google's new Chrome OS offering will probably not replace your computer or tablet, but it may be a useful addition to any modern living room.

The Chromebit from Asus is just the beginning as other manufacturers are getting ready to announce and release their PC-on-a-sticks. All of them are scheduled to arrive as soon as this summer.
