Facebook bought WhatsApp nearly a year ago, there hasn't been any major updates since. That changes today with what is one of the biggest updates to WhatsApp yet.
The service has grown phenomenally to over 600 million active users with it being especially popular in eastern parts of the world. WhatsApp now has its own desktop version which can accessed from a Chrome browser.
To access the web version, Android, Windows and Blackberry users simply need to go to their WhatsApp app on their device and scan the QR code they're shown. From there they can start using the messaging service on their desktop.
