If you're looking for a proof that the real and virtual worlds can meld, a photographer from Montreal wants to give it to you. In the series called "Crossroad of Realities", Benoit Paillé captures the incredible landscapes from "Grand Theft Auto" and combines them with real photos to create a thought-provoking image of the clash of two realities.
The landscapes are gorgeous, just like the graphics of "Grand Theft Auto". However, we doubt they would be as remarkable if it wasn't for Paillé's clever manipulations. As the artist explains on his blog, after taking the picture in the game, he tried to make it more real by adding a pair of hands that would mimic the hands of the player. To make sure the hands will fit the atmosphere, lighting conditions, and colours of the original screenshot, Paillé' would illuminate them in a studio and edit in Lightroom.
As you can see below, the result is simply astonishing. This is what next-gen gaming looks like and we are really impressed to watch this seemingly niche industry to be a source of inspiration for creative ideas.
