Spotify, one of the world's most popular music streaming services, has just released a redesign for its web, desktop, and mobile apps. It brings a darker and more consistent look to the interface across all platforms and devices.
We cannot say that the overhaul is something we have been looking forward to for months as previous design, however not perfect, was quite okay. Nonetheless, we're glad to see Spotify streamline the experience for all its apps. The new look is based on dark backgrounds and new typography as well as redesigned icons and resized certain elements of the UI. The interface is clean and sleek. Spotify used a clever combination of colours to make the mesh of buttons and icons transparent to the user and highlight the content. Dark background contrast with large cover art pictures and crisp white typography.
Alongside the redesign, Spotify also introduced a couple of new features. Your Music allows you to quickly save a song, an album or a friend's playlist to your very own cloud-based collection. Browse, second new feature, suggests content that may be interesting to you based on your location, time and date, and news. With an array of advanced options and a palette of featured playlists, Browse will find music that will fit your mood or activity.
The new version of Spotify should be available now for web, desktop, and iPhone users. Owners of Android smartphones and tablets are expected to get the update shortly.
