Monument Valley May Be One of the Best & Most Beautiful Puzzle Games Ever

Sometimes when a new game comes out on a mobile device you have a feeling that there's something special here. A type of game that would only really work on a touchscreen device due to the nature of the gameplay. Monument Valley is one of those games.

There are thousands of puzzle games out there for the iPad, iPhone or any Android device but Monument Valley bring something very different to the table. Just like The Room, which was awarded best of the year 2013, it transforms the way you play with puzzles.

The aim of the game is to get a character, a Princess to be precise, across a level using the architecture available and impossible geometry. What makes this game so unique is that a lot of is down to creating and using optical illusions. You can twist ledges, raise platforms and use doorways to teleport to different parts of the level.

It's not just the gameplay that makes it so fantastic, it's also a piece of art. The attention to detail in every level is sublime, with very beautiful colours and a very Japanese style to the design. It also makes use of very smooth zen style music which fits very well.

It would be surprising to see it not awarded best of the year or game of the year 2014.
