Portable music players have been almost pushed out of the market by mobile phones and tablets but they're not completely gone yet. Actually, they are pretty much alive and the amazing new Cowon iAudio E3 is here to prove that.
To tell you the truth, the iAudio E3 is one of the most beautiful devices we've seen. It sports design inspired by a bookmark and has a distinctive tapered shape that makes it thin enough for you to slide in between the pages of a book and listen to your favourite music whilst reading. The housing is uniform and clean, with slightly curved edges and matte finish. Thanks to natural elegance and accessibility it emanates, the iAudio E3 brings Apple's most iconic products to mind. It retains the same aesthetics as the first iPod and points to Cowon's design principles: make the technology transparent, put the user and his needs first.
Specifications-wise, the device is not as impressive as modern smartphones. However, does it need it be? It comes with a monochromatic 0.95-inch OLED display, a capacitive touchpad, support for premium BBE+ sound technology, and a bunch of built-in fitness features such as pedometer and calorie counter. It weighs only 20.8 grams but holds inside a powerful battery, which is promised to last for more than 11 hours of continuous playback.
Cowon iAudio E3 with either 8GB or 16GB of on-board storage is set to launch at the end of March for around $83 and $112 respectively.
