Apple have just announced CarPlay - their version of iOS in the car which is going to be coming this year.
CarPlay has been designed for car manufacturers to easily connect to iOS devices and use their core functions such as navigate, make calls, send/receive messages and of course listen to music. It's been designed specially so more focus is on the road, rather than your device.
As expected, Siri will also be integrated so certified cars will have a mic which can listen for your voice commands. Making it much easier to carry out functions without having to actually touch anything.
CarPlay will be integrated with already existing buttons in cars, because buttons are of course much easier to use than a touch screen when you're not looking.
Apple has already partnered with Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Volvo - all these car manufacturers will be introducing CarPlay in select cars this year.
In the future they'll also be bringing it to BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.
Currently CarPlay is only compatible with the iPhone 5S, 5C and 5.
