Here at UltraLinx, we have a particular soft spot in our hearts for architecture that combines well-conceived design with natural and elegant beauty. Thus, the Villa F located right off the water in Rhodes, Greece, took our breaths away the moment we saw it.
When you look at it, the villa brings a white, opaque diamond or a modern and slightly abstract sculpture to mind. It has irregular shape, as if the house was a deformed cube where angularity meets bold slopes and large, clean surfaces.Without a shadow of doubt, architects from Hornung & Jacobi, the firm responsible for the design, drew inspiration from geometry and environment. Despite its raw and seemingly abstract appearance, the Villa F blends smoothly with the surroundings.
All the surface of the house were painted white. As a result, it has a minimal, clinic look, which is intensified by lack of windows as we know them. They were replaced with triangle-shaped fissures for air ventilation and glassed-in panes that allow the sun penetrate the inside. Speaking of, the Villa F's interior is as simple and elegant as its exterior. Geometrical shapes are to be found there in the form of sloping walls and various ceiling supports.
Very noticeable are staircases, which are present all over the inside. The furniture is sparse and basic and so are the appliances and accessories, but it works in the house's favour as it leaves plenty of room for thoughts and allows the residents to admire the gorgeous view over the nearby lake.
