Techne is an Australian architectural firm known for the cool designs they come up with. They specialize in clean and fresh projects, in which they can express their creativity and vision. The company's latest design, an old warehouse converted into a beautiful living space, is yet another evidence of their unbelievable talent.
The warehouse is located in the heart of Richmond, Melbourne. Architects from Techne managed to turn this unkempt building into an airy three level apartment. They have removed all unnecessary partitions to promote the interaction as well as allow the daylight and airflow to stream freely throughout the open space. Steel windows, staircases and trusses were used to highlight the original structure of the warehouse, while additional architectural components attempt to give the inside a modern look and generate an impression that the area is bigger than it is in reality.
As far as colours are concerned, the designers went for a palette of soft whites for the walls, and strong blacks for stairs, ceiling supports and ribbing. Dark accents compliment the dominating whites and amplify the distinctness and elegance of the interior. Furniture, accessories and house appliances are maintained at the same tone and blend with other elements very well.
Inside, the warehouse redesigned by architects from Techne is a piece of art. Outside, however, it is an ordinary building you would probably never look at. I wonder how many gems like this are hidden in the cities!
