I remember in the early days of YouTube you were able to watch full length movies on the site. Pirates would upload films to the site for everyone to see freely. YouTube caught on and started banning these videos using the content ID system which was introduced in 2007.
However the films are coming back. Wall Street Journal points out that there are hundreds of movies on the site and the copyright holders including Walt Disney, Columbia and Tristar are doing nothing about it.
Now the weekend is basically here and if you're looking to sit down and watch a movie on YouTube for free, Reddit users have created a sub-reddit showcasing all the films available on YouTube right now - check it out. Sit back, relax and enjoy.
