For the most part, there has always been a fine line between Android and Apple and although this margin is rather great, BlueStacks is looking to close the gap. Their Android App Player allows Mac users to download and use applications from the Google Play Store. Currently in alpha, only 17 apps are hosted within the software but more are being added each month. A PC version was in the alpha stage late last year with the beta version of the software being released a few months ago with huge success. Having initially started with a few number of apps as well, it won't be long before both versions include 400,000 Android applications, all available to you from your Mac or PC thanks to Layercake, the technology behind the software.
"By bringing Android apps to Mac we are breaking open the Apple ecosystem, which has traditionally been closed," -BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma
