Halo 4's Watcher & Crawler Enemy Species Revealed

Halo 4 is definitely going to be a game that I'll be playing for an endless amount of hours. Bungie has made Halo a household name and will forever be one of the greatest franchises in video game history. Now that Bungie has passed the torch to 343 Industries, expectations are high. We've already seen a bit of the multiplayer gameplay, but nothing about the single player just yet. Until now at least.

GameRant got the scoop on the latest information regarding Halo 4's single player; a brand breed of species. The covenant isn't the only non human race that we'll be encountering. The Watcher and Crawler were outed thanks to a the packaging of a McFarlane figurine (shown below). Though it is unclear what their role will be.

The Crawler is a four legged glowing creature that could easily appear in the Gears of War universe. It looks fast moving and reminds me of the insect based opponents in from Halo 3.

The Watcher is quite different. It looks like some sort of robot that could play the same role as 343 Guilty Spark from Halo 3. It could also be Forerunner technology as well. The Forerunner look is definitely prevalent in the Watcher.

This is all just speculation though, and 343 Industries has not commented on the manner yet and will surely want to keep this a secret. The term "Watcher" however has appeared in the RTS title Halo Wars. The Sentinel Watcher was tasked with controlling the Flood outbreak.

Expect to see a lot more info about Halo 4 and the new species at E3 2012.
