It's already looking like Ubisoft is going to have a great 2012. They've got Assassin's Creed 3 coming, Ghost Recon Future Soldier is just around the corner, and now we just got the details on the multiplayer beta for the upcoming Far Cry 3.
The multiplayer beta will allow for up to 16 players to battle it out online together. With six different classes to choose from, players will be zip-lining, combat sliding and using barrel bombs and psyche gas to take each other out.
There will be several of your basic game modes, but there will also be the new Firestorm mode which will have players defending their supply depots while attacking the enemy's. Once the enemy supply depot is reached, your team will have to destroy it by setting it on fire. It's not as simple as that however. Once the fire starts, it spreads to other portions of the map and cuts off paths that you and the enemy were previously allowed to take.
The beta will go on for two weeks and will be accessed by invitation only. You can gain access to the beta by purchasing Ghost Recon Future Soldier from GameStop retailers and being a PowerUp Rewards member. You'll then go to Gamestop.com/code to enter the redeem token. Once the beta is live, players will be emailed their token.
There are going to be several ways of winning your own beta key as well though. You can try and win one of 500 through Facebook at Farcrygame.com/sweeps and also through Ubi.com, Farcrygame.com, and dozens of media websites.
Far Cry 3 is slated for release on September 4th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
