Boris Johnson unveiled the new 2012 London bus at Trafalgar Square on the 16th September. Just look at him, the joker.
The new bus uses some of the latest technology in the auto-mobile industry to make it the greenest bus of its kind. It uses a hybrid system and only produces 640 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre. It also does twice as better as the current diesel buses, doing it 11.6mpg. Now this is a bus remember, not a car so don't expect something like 40mpg.
Boris Johnson says:
It is the latest, greatest masterpiece of British engineering and design, and I am certain it will become a much-loved and iconic vehicle akin to the legendary Routemaster from which it draws so much inspiration.
The bus has a futuristic look, using a lot of glass to make it feel a lot more open and, there are three entrances and two sets of stairs to make boarding the bus a speedier process.
The bus will be put into play at the beginning of 2012 for a trial run. If successful, the bus will then replace most of the buses you see on the London streets today.
