RIM To Give $100 Worth Of Free BlackBerry Apps For Outage

Research In Motion (RIM), the company behind Blackberry phones, is making up for the huge outage last week of its Blackberry services across the world by giving $100 worth of premium apps away for free. The offer will apply to all Blackberry owners and the apps will be available till the end of this year. Enterprise users will also be given 1 month of technical support for free.

A statement from RIM:

We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience,” RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said in a statement today. “We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.

The outage has no doubt damaged the company’s brand massively all the while RIM shares continue to decline. The company is also losing smartphone market share due to the huge popularity of Android devices and Apple’s iPhone.
