iPhone 4S Racks Up 1 Million Pre-Orders in 24 Hours

Apple have just confirmed in a press release that the iPhone 4S has racked up over 1 million pre-orders within 24 hours, beating the iPhone 4 which had 600,000 pre-orders.

It is the first press release since the death of Steve Jobs, Apple's previous CEO. Apple's Philip Schiller said:

We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S.
The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.

Apple began taking pre-orders of the iPhone 4S on Friday and already with so many orders the waiting time for the product is 1-2 weeks.

Even with many consumers being disappointed that they didn't see an all new iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S is obviously going to be a hit. The phone will also be sold at Apple retailers and the company might beat their release day sales of the iPhone 4.
