Turns out the world's average download speed is 580 KBps - says the results from Pando Networks (a global game and software delivery service). The study was conducted from January 1 through June 30th, 2011 and tracked the download speeds of 21 million gamers across the globe.
Now, all these results should be taken with a pinch of salt. Will gamers have faster connections than most? Most of the games on Pando are MMOs such a Lord of the Rings Online, will that have any affect on internet speed preference? Also, a Pando rep tells Kotaku that 'users on their network might be a touch faster than average due to their high use of peer-to-peer file sharing'.
