@leeswagerty, one of my Twitter followers, sent me a link to something which is just "summin else".
Pokki is a very new marketplace for the Windows 7 platform where all the apps are made from HTML5. It's so new that it only has 22 apps. Hopefully overtime though it will grow with developers adding more and more apps.
Now let me get this straight, this thing is freakin' beautiful. Everything from the smooth animations to the design of the apps are beautiful and really shows what you can do with HTML5.
The apps sit in the taskbar and are always available. As always you get quite a few main apps which you would expect, such as Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and weather. Each app even shows notifications in the taskbar so you know how many unread emails you have and what temperature it is outside in your area right now.
The Gmail app uses the new Gmail design. It works just as your usual Gmail would, without it missing any core features. It also lets you sign in with multiple accounts, always a bonus.
For the Windows 7 users out there who want the same kind of thing as Mac applications, this is probably the closest thing. Everything about it beautiful and sleek, a real pleasure to use. The only downside is the that there are hardly any applications. I just hope overtime Pokki explodes, with great apps coming in on a regular basis.
