Mood lighting has usually been an expensive and complicated installation. Chucking in wireless connectivity also would inevitably bring in a lot more problems. However Philips have cracked it.
Philips have come up with Hue, an LED light bulb which can emit 16 million different colours and can be completely controlled wirelessly with your smartphone, tablet or computer. These bulbs are also energy-efficient compared to your average lightbulb.
But the main talking point behind these bulbs is how customisable they are. Through your smartphone, tablet or computer you can choose any colour you like and you can even choose the colours from pictures you’ve taken. You can also do other things such as times for when they should be on or off, or you can have them naturally dim.
I’ve got to say this is actually pretty awesome. They go on sale tomorrow through Apple stores and a starter pack costs £170 which includes three bulbs and all the other things you need to get setup. That’s actually pretty cheap considering how much it would cost to get mood lighting installed into your home.
