The professional designers at Arqui+Lda created this 600 sqm contemporary villa. The villa sits in Vale do Lobo, a luxury golf and beach resort near Faro, Portugal. The villa features a plot surrounded by golf, greenery, and a lake. The architects intentionally did not create a boundary between the estate and the surroundings, because they use the U-shape of the building to create a sense of scale and containment. Within the courtyard, there is a suspended pool, which is the main focal point of the villa. The upper main pool cascades into a lower pool which can act as a kids pool. The facades facing the courtyard offer maximum transparency in order to reduce the barrier between outdoor and indoor.
The roof houses a mini-pool, an outdoor living space, a BBQ area, and roof entertainment. The basement area holds the indoor entertainment areas, such as a games room, a home cinema, a double garage, a home spa, and a service area. The house cleverly uses the qualities of grey sandstone to create the flooring, which minimizes the legibility of the joints.
