∞ Wooden Warmth:</p> <p>This is a warm, woody desk, whose former job was to support a typewriter or a very tired teacher, has been revived as a workstation for a computer which suits its dropped center perfectly for an ergonomic place for a keyboard. The pull-out shelves on each side would be perfect for papers and a cup of coffee.</p> <p>Very nostalgic. That chair is beautiful, too. <br /> Via Well Appointed Desk.

∞ Plus One: Love those lights.  Via Not My Beautiful Home.

∞ Spacious Simplicity: Extensive access to the outdoors is always a lovely addition to any workspace. The outside environment is such an inspiring backdrop that I strongly believe that it&#8217;s not only important, but essential; it serves to remind us of the wider possibilities of our work, and thus motivate us toward greater and more ambitious things. This workspace provides a nice platform from which these can be cultivated. It allows observation, but prevents distraction: the best of both worlds.

∞ Proof of Concept: This represents a lot of the things I aspire to in relation to my own workspace. Stylish, minimalist and above all, functional. Many of the desks I post are often dominated by iPhones, iPads and Macs - it&#8217;s refreshing to see one without them. Sometimes we become distracted by, and obsess over, these mostly meaningless details, convincing ourselves that they will somehow provide us with the willpower we crave. The best way to achieve is to find focus; allow your actual work to take precedence over the means with which you complete it. Via Dear Inspiration.

∞ Deja, Deja, Deja Vu: Very nice. Once again, those chairs are back. I&#8217;ve changed my opinion on them though, thanks to some information kindly sent in by needle: It’s the Eames shell chair. They are everywhere. If you don’t know much about Charles and Ray Eames, you should so google and see if you can’t catch a wonderful recent documentary about them — industrial designers, architects, painters, creatives, and a really interesting couple as well. Their motto was “the best, for the most, for the least.” So I think they would be happy that their iconic designs have remained so popular. Via Where is the Cool?.

∞ White Versus Paint: Stunning room/desk, but if somebody knocks those paints there&#8217;s going to trouble. Via Home Designing.

∞ Cool &amp; Quirky: Contemporary minimalist abstract painter Dee Adams reveals her Oakland loft. With it’s vast rectangular floor plan, one can see the influence of simple lines and the open spaces in her paintings. Nevertheless the loft shows much warmth with it’s quirky lunchbox collection and it’s penchant for color everywhere. It is easy to see her inspiration. Via Modernica.

∞ It&#8217;s alive: I&#8217;m not sure what to say about the chair. It&#8217;s either a horrific monstrosity or a wonderful luxury. I guess I&#8217;ll never really know. Via Minimal Desks.

∞ A Wealth of Knowledge: Via Design Traveller.

∞ Stripes and Stripes: The contents of my desk are a combination of vintage finds and modern everyday technology. The desk itself was chosen two apartments ago (from Pottery Barn, gasp) because of its modular set up (it can be changed into a set of file cabinets easily) in case I move into a space that won’t accommodate it as is. That said, it’s about time to move on a find a new desk, I just haven’t been able to find the right one. Until then, I’m pretty comfortable with what I have and think it works well in my space. You be the judge.

∞ Upstairs Downstairs: My grandfather’s partner desk from the 1930s. Each drawer is filled with old family photos, leases, letters, contracts, deeds, stock certificates and items from as far back as the 1850s. Eyeglasses, ballet shoes, letter sweaters, bibles, coins, ribbons of political buttons, old letterhead, ledgers, lighters and a multitude of other family “treasures.” I love the stairway to our loft — I guess there were not many building codes in the 1920s.
