Official specs for Motorola's new Xoom tablets have just been released and Motorola are holding a launch event for the two devices later today in the UK.
The device will be launching in the UK this month. No word on where else it will be launched yet.
Specs for Xoom 2
- 10.1-inch display
- 1.2Ghz dual-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB built-in storage
- Android 3.2 OS - Honeycomb (ICS may come later)
- Only 8.8 mm thick
Specs for Xoom 2 Media Edition
- The media edition has all the same specs as above, except
- 8.2-inch display
- 8.9 mm thick
Both tablets have a new form factor which Motorola say make the device easier to hold. They also have "slash-guard" coating which is supposed to protect the device from scratches, spills and bumps.
It's sad that ICS won't be on the tablets on launch, especially with Google purchasing the company. Hopefully though Ice Cream Sandwich should be coming soon to the tablets. Also with tablets like the Transformer Prime having a quad-core processor, you have to think is Motorola lacking or are they trying to merge the software well with the hardware.
