Love it or hate it, Xbox live is possibly the best console gaming network around, and it's now coming to Windows 8. Xbox Live’s director of programming Larry Hryb confirmed the announcement, saying “bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy.”
There are two things this could mean:
- Windows 8 will have a slick new media interface, like the new Xbox dashboard - possibly with Kinect support and some great gaming features.
- You will be forced to pay for an Xbox Live subscription and if you don't do so you will be hammered frequently by adverts until you do.
I'm sure you'll agree that outcome 1 is far more attractive. Windows media functions could really do with a spice up. On the other hand, this seems to be very similar to the current Windows Media Centre with an added larger gaming aspect.
Of course these Xbox Live - Windows 8 features are currently being speculated so nothing is clear yet. What do you think? What Xbox Live features you like to see in Windows 8? Will Xbox Live on PCs kill PC Gaming? Leave your comments below.
